Transportation » Transportation Advisory Committee

“Members of the Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) are appointed by their respectivemunicipality or organization. The TAC’s purpose is to address regional transportation issues. This body may advise and recommend plans, activities and projects (through the project prioritization process) to both the member municipalities and the state, as well as try to influence transportation policy in their region and in the state.”

- VTRANS TPI Manual & Guidebook (2007)

The Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) is a invaluable tool in local and regional transportation planning. The TAC is a body that represents the transportation concerns of the Bennington County region, both existing and emerging.  Meetings are historically informal and are an opportunity to discuss how best to combat identified transportation issues.  It is important that this committee meet so that transportation issues may be unearthed, as well. Major recurring topics of note include the Bennington County Regional Commission transportation planning work program and the items it contains, the regional transportation project prioritization list that is submitted to VTrans, regional public transit issues, and the BCRC Regional Transportation Plan. These topics by no means encapsulate all of those at TAC meetings, as other local and regional issues are routinely discussed.
