Emergency Management » Hazard Mitigation

The Bennington County Regional Commission assisted Towns in creating Hazard Mitigation Plans in 2004-2005.  This plan is considered a Multi-Jurisdictional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan and has been adopted by FEMA.  The plan has a regional component, followed by several Town Annexes for those Towns that adopted the guidance.  A Town is eligible for specific grant funding (i.e. Pre-Disaster Mitigation Competitive Program) when the Select Board has adopted a plan of this nature and is in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

The BCRC is currently in the process of conducting a comprehensive update to the Hazard Mitigation Plan and its municipal annexes.
