The Bennington County Regional Commission has assisted Towns in creating Hazard Mitigation Plans since 2004. These plans must be adopted by the municipality and FEMA every 5 years. A municipality is eligible for specific grant funding (i.e. Pre-Disaster Mitigation Competitive Program) when the Select Board has adopted a plan of this nature and is in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
The BCRC is currently in the process of conducting comprehensive updates to several of the Hazard Mitigation Plans. For more information, contact Lissa at LStark@bcrcvt.org.
